The RTA Board

The RTA is governed by a board made up of the following persons as provided for in section 7 of the Road Traffic Act 2014:

  1. Ex-officio Members
    1. the Departmental Head of the Department responsible for Transport or his or her nominee;
    2. the Departmental Head of the Department responsible for Works or his or her nominee;
    3. the Departmental Head of the Department responsible for Finance or his or her nominee;
    4. the Departmental Head of the Department responsible for Provincial and Local Government Affairs, or his or her nominee.
  2. a person nominated by the Road Transport Association of PNG; and
  3. a person nominated by the Papua New Guinea Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and
  4. a person nominated by the National Council of Women; and
  5. a person nominated by the PNG Law Society; and
  6. a person nominated by an incorporated association representing public motor vehicle owners.
  7. a person nominated by the Minister

The first RTA Board was sworn in on 29 January 2016 and the second Board on 17 March 2020.

  • Mr. Jacob Luke  –  PNG Road Transport Association
  • Mr. Roy Mumu  –  Secretary, Department of Transport and Infrastructure
  • Mr. Gabriel Tomtai  –  Deputy Secretary, Department of Works and Implementation
  • Mr. David Guina  –  Secretary Provincial & Local Government Affairs
  • Mr. Paul Nianga  –  FAS, Department of Finance
  • Ms. Nanai Puka-Areni  –  FAS, Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs
  • Mr. Jack Waso – PMV Owner and Operators Association, NCD
  • Mr. Joe Moka – Minister’s nominee
